Cameron Lutges
Camp No Limits Mentor

“If something is important enough, even if the odds are stacked against you, you should still do it.” – Elon Musk

“No legs, no problem” is the mantra that has guided Cameron Lutges throughout his vibrant and active life, after having both his legs amputated before the age of one.

His list of accomplishments is astonishing. Cameron excelled at track and field after receiving running blades at the age of 8 from the Challenged Athletes Foundation, which is a charity for children and adults, providing prosthetics and wheelchairs to those with limb differences. He won athlete of the year at his California High School, after swimming on the high school team for four years. He sells electronics now at a retail store – and this Fall will start his path to a computer engineering degree at San Diego State University.

He is most proud though, of his work mentoring other kids with prosthetics. Cameron not only does not let his limb difference get in the way of his goals, but he uses it to inspire others.

Cameron attended his first Camp No Limits Camp when he was 12 years old.  He received Occupational and Physical Therapy for kids with limb difference, but most importantly gained forever friends.

At the age of 17, Cameron began attending the Camps not as a camper, but as a mentor to the campers. He volunteered enormous amounts of his time to attend Camps in Florida, California, Maine, and Maryland. Cameron not only provided a great example to the campers, but also provided some useful and practical insight to them on how to best handle their challenges.  After working at the Maine Camp in 2019, he posted on his Instagram account @Cameron.Lutges – “Best week of my life.  I love them all.”

We can bet the other campers love him, too.  Cameron says it best: “Be yourself.  Everyone else is taken.” Well said Cameron!
